Spark Your Inner Glimmer

Project Outline
The Spark Your Inner Glimmer Project is designed to support neurodivergent girls (and secondary age students who identify as non-binary) to develop a strong sense of self-worth, identity and confidence in friendships and relationships. Statistically, young people who are autistic, ADHD or neurodivergent in other ways tend to experience lower self esteem and higher anxiety levels than their peers. Bee Informed would like to help change this story by teaching young people to recognise their strengths and embrace their differences. This project seeks to celebrate the many gifts these young people bring to the world.
Activities and sessions are adapted for students across both KS2-KS4 age ranges, focusing on aspects of relationships such as consent and romantic relationships with older students.
The reason the project has been given its name is because glimmers are small things that can particularly spark intense joy in a neurodivergent person. This could be something such as the smell of cut grass or the seeing the colours of a butterfly. These are fleeting moments of calm and alignment that help to regulate the nervous system and provide emotional grounding, making an individual feel safe and connected to the world around them.
