RSE Day 2026
Statistics from sources such as Young Minds, They Are The Future and The Good Childhood Report show that the emotional wellbeing of young people is continuing to decline. There are many reasons for this, from academic pressure to body image, social media as well as the cost of living. But one of the most concerning statistics is that between 1/3 and 1/2 of all children and young people experience low self esteem on a daily basis. The number is higher in girls, who cite expectations around their physical appearance to be a significant contributor to this.
So this year for RSE Day, it is a great time for the theme of 'It Begins With Me' to be celebrated. I have been very fortunate to have been asked to work with the Achieve Well Team at Nottingham City Council to create the materials for the RSE Day website that schools can download ahead of the national day on June 25th. These are for use with primary and secondary pupils, as well as for parents at home. If you would like to take a look at the activities they can be found here: https://www.rseday.com/
If your school would like even more activities based around the themes of self-esteem, kindness and respect in healthy relationships, please do enquire about sessions for pupils and teacher training opportunities. Bee Informed is able to offer these at a discounted cost leading up to June 25th.
There is also an interactive map on the RSE Day site where schools can share information on how they plan to celebrate the day, as well as any photos of activities carried out on the day itself, using the hashtag #RSEday and the map can be found here: https://www.rseday.com/share-your-involvement/
I can't wait to see schools get involved in this special day and to celebrate the importance of RSE in the lives of all the young people who are our future!
